My name is Vanessa and I am a marriage celebrant with a background in stand up comedy, script writing and hosting corporate events.
I became a celebrant because going to so many weddings over the years I was a little surprised at how serious and sometimes dull the ceremonies were. I just didn’t get it! It’s meant to be the happiest day of your life – why didn’t these ceremonies reflect this? That’s when I came up with the idea of offering an alternative – and I decided to become a marriage celebrant and conduct ceremonies that were modern, professional and fun.
I am a normal celebrant. I won’t turn up in a ridiculous outfit and talk about myself during the ceremony. I stick to a script on the day that has been signed off by you – there will be no surprises. And while I don’t shop at Prada, I can assure you that I am always dressed appropriately.
Since becoming a marriage celebrant I haven’t looked back. Having conducted over 100 wedding ceremonies I can honestly say that every ceremony I conduct is not only filled with laughter and joy – they are also deeply meaningful too… and a long way from dull.
A little bit about me. I live in Freshwater with my husband Steve and a very bad-tempered tabby cat called Monty – after Monty Python – yes I’m a fan. I love comedy, movies, reading, swimming at Freshie Beach, listening to podcasts, decent coffee, good red wine and a nice malty stout beer….and I’m currently engrossed in the new show “Stranger Things”. I am also a bit of a foodie and enjoy reading food blogs and cooking in my spare time.
I strongly believe that the ceremony sets the tone for the entire day – so choosing the right celebrant is really important.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Send me an email to see if I am available for your wedding day and we can arrange to meet up for a chat. Our first meeting takes half an hour and would take place at a cafe near my home in Freshwater. At this meeting we can get to know each other better and I will give you a quote for my services. I have two prices and I can explain both options and you can make a decision about which price suits you and your budget best. Two days after our meeting I will contact you via email and you can let me know if you would like to book me as your celebrant. Too easy!
From then on you are in good hands. The process is streamlined and efficient – and not drawn out.
